Western Australia Return Recycle Renew Limited (WARRRL) is a not-for-profit organization behind the Containers for Change program. You’ve probably seen their green and white 10-cent containers around public spaces, helping to keep the community litter-free.
WARRRL wanted to make recycling even more convenient for Western Australia and Queensland.
While the Containers for Change program was already a hit with public drop points and refund locations, WARRRL realized that not everyone could easily participate.
They needed a way to bring the program directly to people’s homes, making it efficient and reliable, accommodating customers’ busy lives.
Initially, WARRRL also had no idea how many containers were processed during the day, making it challenging to plan logistics and resources.
Without the right software, managing collections from many refund points resulted in bottlenecks and an overflow at depots.
We caught up with Tim Cusack, CEO of WARRRL, to hear how Locate2u software facilitated better customer participation.

Giving customers the option to book a collection via the Containers Collect app or website, supported by Locate2u technology, increased public participation even further.
Now, with thousands of collection bookings made through the app, WARRRL can track every driver in real time, capture customer instructions, and manage driver routines efficiently.
It enables multidirectional conversations with drivers and customers. For example, it can communicate with customers when the ETA will be or when a collection has been made.
Live tracking also solved a central pain point at recycling depots, where trucks used to waste time queuing to offload. With accurate ETAs and better planning, the process has become much smoother.
WARRRL has set a new standard for recycling programs in Western Australia. The integration of innovative technology has not only made recycling more accessible but also streamlined their operations, ensuring they can meet the growing demand without a hitch.
